And my claim is that the "Party Line," insofar as there is a "Party Line," is to be found in the kneejerk responses to Chip.
Moreover, those kneejerk responses are grounded in a false empirical premise, in a failure to notice that the battle against "puritanism" has been won, completely won. Those who continue to carry it on might as well be furiously battling Lord Cornwallis at Yorktown. Every issue of practically every newspaper or magazine; nearly every TV channel, network or cable, demonstrates that this battle has been won.
But for some reason I don't understand, a broad spectrum of the left endlessly carries on this battle against an empty threat, pushing at an open door.
Perhaps the frustration a the inability to win real battles drives too many leftists to look for easy sandbox victories.
