That is demeaning and paternalistic in addition to being false.  They as
rational as urban liberals, but their rationality, and their assessment of
their class interests including their perception of their social class,  is
based on very different assumptions.  

But you need to abandon the linear omniscient rationality model popular with
neoclasscials and functionalists (linear means continuous and additive - as
to balance out conflicting interests, omniscient means full unfiltered
access to all relevant information).
