-So the Democrats, the liberals, and the social democrats won't lift a -finger to stop the war. People can see that only the communists are -doing something, and, in NYC at least, a handful of people from the -SPUSA, IWW, WRL etc. who ignore the liberal/socdem leadership. So if -anything it is a political lesson.
Let's see-- people see a few thousand people mindlessly marching for no apparent reason with no power, versus the Democratic activists who put an anti-war critic, Dean, as chair of the Party. Frankly, the antiwar Dems at least have something to show for their efforts; the sectarian antiwar folks look ridiculous and useless by comparison.
What's amazing to me is watching this mass ferment among activists joining the Dean campaign, MoveOn, the Kos network, Democratic Underground, and a host of other groups and networks, while the leftwing ignores them almost completely. I can see the left criticiquing their politics, but the left isn't even trying to recruit new members among their ranks.
The sectarian left has become an isolated echo chamber, talking only to itself, ignoring hundreds of thousands of people who DAILY check out antiwar discussions on Kos and DU. There are plenty of people thirsting for antiwar information; they just don't think the sectarian left is worth their time.
