I just watched a video on the CNN website that starred a New Orleansian (?) named Alan Gould calling it a "modern day genocide." That was the title they gave it, too. Pretty strong stuff for CNN.
I couldn't believe the coverage on MSNBC last night, either. Horrific scenes and accounts presented with great sympathy and anger - unlike those baying cretins on Fox, who couldn't stop talking about looting. Even Scarborough was fulminating about how fucked up things were. Olberman had Al Sharpton on to talk about race and class. I'm sure the normal regime of ideolgoical bullshit will return, but this an interesting rupture.
