I'm a bit confused as to the object of this "critique." I suppose personal friends of Hitchens might be interested, but for those of who are not he is just one of several million lackeys around. Why should I care whether he is or isn't a boozer. His politics are vile. But it's the politics, not this particular bearer of them that one needs to oppose. And for that matter, even the politics as carried by Hitchens are simply a bore and a distraction. A majority of the american people want us out of Iraq. It's among those 10s of millions that our work lies.
Incidentally, the focus on Bush's "failure" is also not very interesting. The crucial current political fact is that the u.s. ruling class is overwhelmingly committed to the core policies of the Bush Administraion. It's that that we need to analyze and base our political work on.
