I think there was some correspondence between Marx and Engles in which 
Marx said that the revolution would never take place in the U.S. until 
the race problem is solved.

Can't quote chapter and verse though. Seems sensible to me.

Not to say that class isn't THE issue, but just that in some countries 
there are other historically specific knots that need to be 
untied...because these divide the working class and so long as the 
working class is divided because of race or caste or whatever, it can't win.
