And one more thing - US mobile service sucks more than
mobile service elsewhere because few carriers use GSM
technology, which is the world standard.  As a result,
US mobiles are useless outside the US, unless you
subscribe to grossly overpriced "global" services.  

It is quite patehetic when I get off the plane in,
say, Burkina Faso and see Europeans pulling their
mobiles, buying cheapo calling cards from street
vendors and calling their families or friends back in
EU, whereas I can basically stick my Sprint phone up
to my ass, because Sprint as most US carriers uses
CDMA, which is practically unknown outside the US.
