I know what "vanilla sex" means.
But I find it amusing that on a list that pays homage to the effort to find the underlying relations between things in the world, vanilla, one of the world's most expensive flavorings, and certainly a complex one, is generally equated with plain and dull.
I hereby propose "vanillin sex" instead. I think that gets the implied sense of ordinariness across.
