If we are talking about a socialist society, enormous 'things' would have happened between now and then, and the people living in that society would be people constituted by the social relations through which those things were brought about. It simply makes no sense to argue about what the motives of people under those conditions would be. They wouldn't be either better or worse people, they would simply be different. Parents in the 18th c. would beat the hell out of their kids and no one, kids or parents, thought much about it. One can go on indefinitely listing such examples.
