I knew there was something wrong with my position even as I was expressing it actually. No doubt a bit of self analysis would show it to be a case of reverse snobbery.
Yes, you're right, a socialist society would very likely be a cafe society and working positions in such establishments would be highly prized for their socialising opportunities. Not to mention the opportunities to demonstrate your cooking prowess. There would probably be a long waiting list for some positions. Though guests might have to wash up their own dishes and mop the floor occasionally. And the waiters would tend to be a bit uppity. ;-)
If you want a servant to clean up after you, you aren't really a socialist at heart. Glad to see I'm not the only person here who is a socialist at heart.
