Did you even bother to read my post? I'm an Antioch alum. Believe me, trust fund hippies, rentier brats, and flower power types were a tiny fraction of the student population. Lots of interesting people were there from all walks of life, and they actually got quite a good education (small class sizes, committed teachers). The co-op program was interesting, too -- you spent half your time off-campus, doing internships and jobs in that Real World you take such pains to identify with. I worked on assembly lines, for human rights organizations, as a union colonizer, etc. It was one of the few institutions in the country with such a program. And now it's gone.

Laughing at Antioch's demise is about as funny as laughing at the impending gutting of the UAW.
