Before you write off the onboard GPU I would actually go look at the tech details of the GPU on that particular board. Of course 9600gs will put it to shame but it that is realy a gaming card. A Solid PCI-E X16 card for cheap (110$ US) would be the 7600GT. Keep in mind that nvidia cards tend to have better support in Linux as they offer better support to linux.
