Some thoughts on this thread. Chuck is right about mass CD. It's now the only way to stop this war and get rid of the Patriot Act.

You just have to be smart about how you do it. Rremember Civil Rights movement was based on going to jail, in violation of specific laws to make court cases.

The same tactic will work now. But it requires of course large support, and lots of people. You have to pick good targets like the ammo plant, military bases, transport routes and the like and block them with sit-ins, and keep it up.

You also need to coordinate this in districts with supportive House members, and keep their staff people involved, openly. And of course whoever you can get to help work on it in the NLG and other legal orgs.

The reason none of that is being done out here in the SF Bay Area is that we no longer have any military bases left. They've all been de-commissioned. Same with war industries. They're all gone. There are no symbolic targets, except maybe in Sacramento.

All the military and war infrastructure must be in the Mid-West and back East. There is of course DC directing protests against the governement instead of military symbols... So at the very least we should start thinking about mass anti-war marches, like those that were held just before the war.

Let's remember the Patriot Act was in place during those marches in 2003 and nobody was arrested under it.
