Bush's latest Gallup approval rating, 28%, is the 27th-lowest reading
out of the 1,408 times Gallup has asked the question since 1941 -
that's at the 1.9th percentile. It's exceeded only by Truman and
Nixon, both late in their administrations. Bush's disapproval rating,
69%, is the highest ever (meaning that there are fewer don't know/
uncertain answers than there were in the past). The previous record
was Bush's 67% disapproval in early April, and Truman's 67% in
January 1952.
Oh, and Bush is now the first president since Eisenhower to preside
over two recessions (which this isn't yet officially, but almost
certainly will be).
