Er, ummm, not bloody likely. Nixon (like LBJ before him) didn't need to nuke Vietnam, given the utter destruction the USAF was already visiting on that country. Indeed, Nixon expanded the war to Laos and Cambodia at a time when street protests and antiwar activism were probably at their height. As I.F. Stone suggested at the time, Wall Street's antipathy to the money losing war had more impact on Nixon than anything else.
