You really haven't read about his policies too closely, have you? The difference between "Plan Colombia" and the Democrat position is almost nil. Obama won't change this. We have had the same kind of operations in Colombia since the Reagan administration. It is bipartisan. It is supported by both sides of the aisle.

The Obama statement you quote by the way was in support of the Colombian government's illegal bombing of a neighbor. Obama is not very much different than McCain on these issues.

It is not a matter of Obama's progressiveness or regressiveness in these areas. It is a matter of people who are so caught up in the "newness" of Obama that they don't see the institution he is running for, and the state policies he wants to administer.
