Decreasing abortions is an argument that the 'social conservative' movements make. I think that the theory is - if you can use your enemy's weapons against him you will succeed. The counter argument - that only support for motherhood and free access to abortion provide any chance of succeeding (at their goal of reducing abortion) challenges their commitment. It appears to effectively turn their weapon against them. And the 'support for motherhood' program seems attractive to my sense of socialism.

Or you can be politically correct.
