My issue is not with police misconduct, which I believe is not more frequent than misconduct on any other job, but the public perception of men in blue, or men in the uniform in general. Can you imagine POTUS apologizing for insulting, say, a clerk at the Motor Vehicle Administration or Internal Revenue Service? However, the uniformed civil servants are considered heroes in public opinion - unlike any other government employee or for that matter any employee - and public deference toward men in unform really pisses me off. Not the cops or soldiers, but the attitudes of the 'Murikan people toward them.
