Not to mention agricultural science and technology. Years ago, when
Humboldt County first became supreme in the production of domestically
cultivated weed, I recall reading a DEA official's expression of amazement
at the innovation of the pot growers and the results that they had attained:
"If ordinary farmers had made the advances these guys have, we'd have 500 lb
watermelons by now." (Close paraphrase.)
