As NASA climatologist Gavin A. Schmidt said the other day, "Science doesn't
work because we're all nice. Newton may have been an ass, but the theory of
gravity still works."

Which is not to say that science is a perfect, abstract process whose
outcomes are immune to influence by assism, but unless you're prepared to
allege that the entire climatological discipline is a sinister conspiracy of
lying asses, that won't be the dynamic behind the global consensus on
climate change.
