Well, I'm a contrarian. On this list I advance criticisms of leftists and marxists, but when talking to liberals I'm an acidulous socialist. Maybe it's not the best approach. But if I criticize the left and its catechisms it's because I think they're holding back the left, divorcing it from reality and from other people. (And, okay, also because they annoy me.) I mean, if "Close the Prisons Now" is a litmus test of being on the left, as some have posited, then fine, I'm just a liberal. But I dislike the implication that we have to choose between ignominious sell-out and identitarian self-marginalization; I'm interested in transcending those choices.
