Regarding C DOSS' post "Russian demogrpahics":
Where does the "Immigration compensat(ing) for the amount of population loss by 82.9%" come from? The "legal, full-time resident" immigrants referred to later in your post? I do know that recently the Russian Far East has received a major influx of Central Asian (generically referred to as "Uzbek," regardless of their nation/state of origin), corresponding to an apparent shift in Immigration Service policy under the late Putin Presidency. CIS immigrants are less likely to be regarded as a fifth column than the Chinese, not in the least because of their Russian language proficiency (or familiarity, if not proficiency).
