I haven't actually read those posts or anything Marx and Engels wrote on the Civil War, but there is a reason that Bakunin considered Marx and Engels to be have concocted a new imperialist ideology. I just read his "The German Empire and Social Revoution," or whatever it's called in English, so it's fresh in my mind.

to crude moralistic appeals in this one unique instance - slavery in the
American South - while disregarding their modern equivalents, like the
subjugation of women in Afghanistan. For the record, I find both instances
