Ahem, if you view them as ignorant and superstitious, then you probably won't have much luck organizing them. Because they'll think you're an elitist condescending jerk. The Right doesn't make that mistake. They listen to them, treat them as equals.
Joe Bageant grew up redneck, became a journalist and mostly socialist, then went back to his hometown and wrote about it in "Deer Hunting With Jesus. Dispatches from America's Class War." He is scathing about how Democrats and the Left condescends to and insults the white working class, a major blown opportunity, because then they go right instead, voting against their own class interests.
