Actually the WH would have drawn blood if they reacted -- correctly -- before everyone else figured out what was going on.
^^^^^ CB: I'm not so sure about that. It was not at all certain that the ultimate and predominant portrayal of the whole episode by the uhhh racist mass media would have been so honest as it has turned out given the history of the racist media in these type of thingies.
^^^^^^^ That would have excited the hounds more and culminated in a more splendid comeuppance. Then it would have been a victory for Obama, instead of a saving grace. They could have linked it to the ACORN fraud too. Best defense a good offense and all.
^^^^^ CB: It _is_ a victory for Obama. He acted the way the vast majority of white Americans want him to act on this: like an average white American. Then it turns out he was too hard on a Black woman.
Believe me. The vast majority of Black people understand exactly what's going on here and in general with the media and racism against Obama. He didn't lose anything with Black , and probably Brown, people on this one.
^^^^^ That's basically what Rove might have done to Rather, leak fake documents about a real deficiency of Bush, let them get hyped a bit knowing the forgery would get exposed, Rather destroyed, and most important the AWOL issue buried for good.
^^^^^^ CB: Obama could _not_ count on the racist media to expose eventually a racist attack by Fox News or the rightwing. They haven't been exposing huge slogs of racism from the Tea Party and other rightwingers directed at the O administration.
