Here's an example of a ruling class organized project to alienate
masses from voting. Some such projects are blatant like this one.
Other one's are more subtle or indirect, brainwashings,  propaganda,
merely exposing the widespread wrongdoing of office holders, much of
it due to bribery from the rich. Bribery and legal buying of elected
officials is a "two-for" for the ruling class. First the politician
helps to pass some law that favors the rich and corporations. Then if
caught, the American legend of "bad big government" and corrupt
politicians is enhanced and replenished.  The whole major
anti-gov'ment American folk institution functions to scapegoat the
government for the systemic machinations of the ruling class, the
bourgeoisie.  Politics is a dirty business, my grandmother said.
"Dirty business" is largely redundant.
