A friend of mine teaches history at UC Irvine. He used to have a lot of casual conversations with Mike Davis when Davis was in the history dept. there. Davis told him once that he got a letter or email or something from Pat Buchanan praising one of his books. He said you never know who's going to like your work.
I forget which book it was. It'd be an interesting parlor game to guess which Mike Davis book Pat Buchanan would like.
