I saw the parallel, but your phrasing seemed to imply that it was absurd to seek political asylum. As imperfect and filled with contradiction as asylum seeking is, it usually beats the alternatives. Trotsky probably accomplished more in his travels , even eventually being murdered in Mexico, than he would have staying in the SU and being shot by Stalin. Certainly he lived longer and by most standards I can think of was better off personally. Assange is better off in Ecuadorean embassy than in a U.S. prison. Dismissing the discussion the way you did seems absurd. If you wanted to discuss the contradictions in political asylum rather than just suggest that Assange gains nothing by not just heading to U.S. torture chambers via Sweden, you should have phrased in differently.
