No. I don't get it either. I figure, it's because I missed the beginning.

But the left public sphere does seem to be at a low ebb at the moment, a theme that both Fisher and Scialabba address. Nearly every development of late ems to validate holding a jaundiced point of view. Mr Ebay buys up left-leaning journalists. DeBlasio wins and appoints Broken Windows guy police boss. Meanwhile the more retrograde forms of identity politics seem to be running loose. (OK, Sawant did capture local office. That was good.)

I must be a dinosaur's dinosaur. I can't make head nor tail of any of that.

What's this about lbo-talk vanishing? Is Doug closing it down? Who's Fisher and Scialabba when they are at home? What the bloody hell is a "late ems"? What's this about ebay buying journalists?

In fact I have no idea what anyone is talking about in any of this thread, everything seems to be written in some kind of impenetrable cypher. (Surely "DeBlasio wins and appoints Broken Windows guy police boss" is some kind of coded sentence? It certainly doesn't convey any meaning read literally.)

Is it just me that has not the faintest clue what anyone is talking about, or even what language is being spoken - anyone else not privy to the cypher key?
