I also enjoyed his explorations of the world of Leo Strauss too. Chuck was able to make Strauss interesting by linking Strauss's obsessions with the events and political and cultural trends of Germany under the Weimar Republic.

Wow... I virtually never write in, but I've been reading this list for at least 10 years, and I feel like I knew the guy. With all those posts over the years, he essentially told his life story. He will be sorely missed. RIP, Chuck.
